問題與研究 has published a new study titled “Fighting for Taiwan? An Exploration Using List Experiments.” This research, conducted by the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR), highlights the limitations of traditional public opinion surveys, particularly regarding willingness to fight in war. By combining online surveys with list experiments, the study reveals that about 64% of Taiwanese are willing to fight if China invades. It also estimates that around 7% of respondents may give socially desirable answers rather than their true preferences. Key factors influencing willingness to fight include assessments of Taiwan's military capabilities, trust in U.S. security commitments, and Taiwanese identity. Strengthening defense, maintaining alliances, and building national consensus are crucial for enhancing public resolve. For more details, see the full article in 問題與研究.
