Institute for National Defense and Security Research
Debuts In Global Think Tank Index

Listed among “2019 Best New Think Tanks”

TAIPEI, Taiwan, R.O.C. – Feb 4, 2020 – The Institute for National Defense and Security Research made its debut in the 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report as one of the best new think tanks.

In its 14th edition, the results of the annual index report are part of the most comprehensive database on think tanks that is compiled by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

“It is a real privilege to be included in this benchmark index report. The honor belongs to everyone in our institution,” said INDSR Chief Executive Officer Cheng-yi Lin. “Looking ahead, with the support of the government and other stakeholders, we will continue to deepen our research in defense and security issues and strengthen strategic communications between Taiwan and other countries."

INDSR joins prestigious peers at home, including Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, Foundation on Asia-Pacific Peace Studies, Chung-hua Institution for Economic Research and Industrial Technology Research Institute, as among the 61 think tanks representing Taiwan in the index report.

About Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP)
Since its inception in 1989, the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania has been conducting research on the role policy institutes play in governments and civil societies around the world. In 2006, the TTCSP developed and launched a pilot project named the global index of think tanks, designed to identify and recognize centers of excellence in all the major areas of public policy research and in every region of the world. Over 8,200 think tanks are catalogued in the TTCSP’s Global Think Tank Database.
