Abstract
In the post-epidemic period, China’s adherence to the policy of “Zero-COVID” and strict regulatory measures have aroused public dissatisfaction and a sense of relative deprivation. The “political prevention” policies that ignore economic and people’s livelihood development have disappointed the public. From recent observations of Chinese social platforms, more and more Chinese people share the current situation of epidemic prevention in various places through the Internet and simultaneously express their dissatisfaction with the government. Some people even called on the masses to oppose the government’s lockdown and stay-at-home order through the Internet.
The CCP only uses various special rectification actions and strengthened public opinion monitoring to create the illusion that the government is actively responding to the needs of the people. Or to punish grassroots officials or insignificant points to ease the people’s dissatisfaction. However, with the development of Chinese society, the public's concept of safeguarding personal rights and interests has been further enhanced, especially since society has long been dissatisfied with how the government handles issues related to people’s lives and property. Failure to find the right solution to "popular opinion" might challenge China’s social stability in the future.
