Abstract
The main feature of the aircraft carrier Fujian ship is the use of the EMALS. The IPS provides power for the whole sailors’ life and equipment operation, and the hybrid power system enables the ship to navigate at a high speed of 30 knots. The MVDC power system in the laboratory is working perfectly, but the actual operation will have to wait after the commissioning of the ship to get the result. Other notable features of the ship include 32-surface phased-array radars, an integrated communications system, short-range anti-aircraft missiles, multi-purpose jammer launchers, and CIWSs. Since the sea trials have gone well, it may be possible to significantly shorten the number of sea trials and accelerate the time to commissioning. However, the Fujian ship’s combat capability will still need to be built up during the service process, which takes time and cannot be accomplished overnight. For the PLA Navy lacks the support of overseas bases, and is still unable to travel year-round, falling short of the global navy’s standards.
