On March 26 – 27, European Values Center for Security Policy (EVC) hosted a delegation of Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR), think-tank of the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense.
EVC is the leading partner of INDSR in Central Eastern Europe with a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2021. This cooperation includes sharing non-public strategic assessments related to Russia and China or exchanging Visiting Fellows for in-depth research cooperation.
EVC and INDSR leaderships were hosted by Major-General Radek Hasala, Commander of the Military Office of the Czech President, at the Prague Castle to discuss strategies of Russia and China. The group photograph is published with knowledge and approval of Major-General Radek Hasala.
During this visit of INDSR in Prague, EVC also held a discussion titled “Building Democratic Alliance in the Indo-Pacific and potential Scenarios of Chinese actions against Taiwan”. INDSR Director Dr. Chen Ming-chi and his Deputy Director retired Lieutenant-General Michael Ting-sheng Lee shared assessment focused on scenarios of Chinese action against Taiwan and possibilities for enhancing defense cooperation with Czechia. The audience consisted of multiple Czech Members of Parliament, Ambassadors from like-minded democracies, Czech business leaders and representatives of Czech national security institutions.
In early 2024, EVC and INDSR started a unique Visiting Fellowship Program, exchanging specialists focused on selected national security issues. As a first one, between March and April 2024, EVC Analyst David Toman is hosted by INDSR in Taipei to work on joint research on Europe-Taiwan-Japan cooperation options.
