Institute for National Defense and Security Research Assesses China, Indo-Pacific region and Defense Technology Developments

Security in the Taiwan Strait remains the focus

TAIPEI, Taiwan, R.O.C. – Dec 13, 2018 – In its inaugural overview on defense and security issues impacting the Indo-Pacific region and Taiwan, the Institute for National Defense and Security Research sees far-reaching effects of the US-Sino trade war in the Indo-Pacific region, of China’s party and military reform, and of technologies to come in the battlefields of the future.

“Based on meticulous analysis by the institute’s elites – in the spirit of and with an attitude for facts and transparency – we completed the three assessment reports for 2018,” Kent Feng, INDSR’s inaugural chairman and Taiwan’s former defense minister, writes in the foreword for the reports.

“We hope they provide a valuable reference and contribute to the wisdom of maintaining stability in the Taiwan Strait and promoting regional peace.”

The reports, their English-language summaries and the Chairman’s foreword are now available on the institute’s website
