INDSR Chief Executive Officer Handover Approved By Board of Directors
National Security Council senior advisor brings deep Japan expertise
TAIPEI, Taiwan, R.O.C. – Mar 5, 2020 – The Institute for National Defense and Security Research today held a meeting of the Board of Directors to approve the handover of its chief executive officer.

Departing CEO Dr Cheng-yi Lin will be succeeded by Dr Chen-wei Lin, a senior advisor to the National Security Council, R.O.C., who will take up his new role immediately.

A former deputy minister for the Mainland Affairs Council, R.O.C., Dr Cheng-yi Lin was seconded from Academia Sinica to help launch INDSR in May 2018 as Taiwan’s only national-level international think tank focused on defense and security affairs.

“It is with sincere thanks to outgoing CEO Cheng-yi Lin for his perseverance and pioneering efforts at INDSR to break new ground,” said INDSR Chairman Huoh Shoou-yeh. “Building on that solid foundation, we are confident his successor Dr Chen-wei Lin will be able to further raise the level of research at our institute.”

Dr Chen-wei Lin has a rich background in government and Japan affairs. He served as a senior advisor in Taiwan’s National Security Council under two administrations and was a core member of Taiwan’s representative office in Japan. He has taught as a professor at Hokkaido University Public Policy School and Tokoha University.

Dr Chen-wei Lin received his PhD from The University of Tokyo. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and Japanese.
